Common questions

How do I translate something?

Type or paste in the translation popup, select text in any app and trigger the global shortcut (or use the “Translate with TransOne” item in the Services menu), or capture a screen region to translate text inside an image. The result appears in a popup you can copy from.

Which translation engines are supported?

Apple’s on-device translator, DeepL, Google, Microsoft, Tencent, Baidu, Youdao, Alibaba, Volcano Engine, Amazon, OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, or any local OpenAI-compatible model via Ollama or LM Studio. TransOne talks to each one directly with your own keys, so there’s no relay server in between.

How does the free trial and purchase work?

TransOne includes a 7-day free trial. Unlocking it is a one-time purchase, no subscription, handled entirely through Apple’s App Store. If you’ve already bought TransOne, use “Restore Purchases” in the app’s settings to unlock it on a new Mac.

Where are my API keys stored?

API keys, tokens, and secrets are stored in the macOS Keychain on your device. They’re used only to authenticate requests to the engine they belong to and are never sent anywhere else. For more, see the Privacy Policy.

Can I translate without sending text to the cloud?

Yes. Choose Apple’s on-device translator (macOS 15 or later) or a local model running in Ollama or LM Studio, and the text you translate never leaves your Mac. Cloud engines remain available whenever you want them.

Something isn’t working. What should I send?

Email us with your macOS version, the engine you’re configuring, and a short description of what you expected versus what happened. A screenshot of any error message helps a lot.
